Motorhead vs Hayseed Dixie - Ace Of Spades [Carty Mix] Hayseed Dixie with Carty CD
Motorhead - Ace Of Spades
Hayseed Dixie - Ace Of Spades

Rob Golding (a.k.a. Ant DJ) suggested Carty try a mashup of these two version of Ace Of Spades, so he did. And the result was pleasantly brilliant! Both cersions are not in the same key, so some clever adjustment was needed. And to add stereo depth to the mix, each artist has their own channel.

The superb cover designed by Annet (a.k.a.) Ant Lady (one of her best!). The icing on the cake was when Rob went to see Hayseed Dixie perform live in 2005 and handed them a copy of the remix (evidence above). Just don't tell Lemmie or GG (a Motorhead and Ant fan).

Chemical Brothers - Hey Girl
Adam & The Ants - Dog Eat Dog
Beastie Boys - Galactica
The Bangles - Walk Like An Egyptian [acapella]
MaCe (ft Marco Pirroni) - Mr. Grimsdale [Si Begg remix]
Norman Wisdom - "Mr Grimsdale" sample

MaCe comprise of Marco Pirroni and Laz. And that 'Ant' link may have you wondering why this wasn't included on the regular Carty Mixes Ant compilations. Well it's not very Ant-like at all.

The Si Begg remix was getting good plays in the UK clubs and differed vastly to the album mix. So Carty decided to bring the two together and make a fresh approach. He added some classic samples from the Chemical Brothers, The Beastie Boys and The Bangles, not to mention Dog Eat Dog.

It also includes some dialogue from Norman Wisdom.  His catchphrase was "Mr Grimsdale!!!".

Even though it's called the Blue Carrot remix (which is an anagram of Cartrouble), it has no connection to the Blue Carrot collection of remixes on this site..

Soul Seekerz - Turn Me Upside Down [original mix]
Mariah Carey - We Belong Together [Peter Rauhofer Reconstruction Mix]
Axwell - Feel The Vibe
Les Rhythems Digitales - Jacques Your Body (Make Me Sweat)

It had been quite a few years since Carty had DJ'd in the clubs. News of Rob Golding's (a.k.a. Ant DJ) venture into this area in 2005 renewed his passion for dance music. He researched five up and coming dance cuts and blended them into one twenty minute floor-filling mix. Carty found it ironic that he used to beat mix like this live, with two turntables, and now it was all recorded and mixed digitally on a PC!

Carty said in 2005, "Computers will never replace the DJ, not as long as mixing on the fly keeps the dance floors alive. (I hope)" It seems he needs to revisit this view seven years on.

Helicopter – On Ya Way [original mix]
Jeff Wayne - Eve Of The War 2005 [Part One remix]
Pussycat Dolls - Don't Cha [single version]
Seduction - Free Your Body (It's Time To Get Hip House) [12" version]

This Pussycat Dolls monster hit has been coupled with a track that was massive during Carty's club DJ days of the 90's, namely On Ya Way by Helicopter. He nicked the bass line from another club hit, this time Free Your Body by Seduction from the late 80's. A sprinkle of a new remix of Jeff Wayne's Eve Of The War and you're left with an uptempo take on this worldwide smash.

A slightly altered version, called the Chinook Remix had since been sent to DMC for possible inclusion in the monthly DJ only mix CDs. It is planned to add that mix to this page for download.

Blue Zoo - Cry Boy Cry

Carty created this remix for DMC, however it was never successful, although rather popular with a number of Blue Zoo fans. It was also passed on to one of the band members who has been still touring with the band. Since this remix was made Carty had discovered the original 12" mixes which would have come in very handy back in 2006!

Peaches vs Ultravox ft Radio Jen - I U She Vienna
Carty (ft Radio Jen) – I U She [unreleased mix]
Ultravox - Vienna
Peaches - I U She [album version]

Featuring vocals from our (then) very own traffic and transit queen Radio Jen, who had turned the heat up to boiling point with her sexy voice. Music to make love to. So, how did this start? Firstly Rob Golding (a.k.a. Ant DJ had been playing the Peaches track I U She at his club and suggested Carty try a remix of it. It's basically just vocals and drums, but the pace of the track is so fast it was near impossible to find anything to do with it.

After some hard work trying to isolate the vocals away from the (very loud) drums, he wasn't left with much to play with. At this time, Carty had been playing around with an Ant mix of Kings Of The Wild Frontier with Vienna by Ultravox. The fact that Ultravox starts off slow and then doubles in tempo may prove to be useful - and early demos of this mix showed just that. But it was lacking in the vocal department and this is where Radio Jen comes to the rescue. She's even featured (above) on the cover with Chris Dalton's (a.k.a. Seedy) sister Jo. Although Jen has ditched her radio career for one of nursing. Rumours of a new sleeve in her nurses uniform have not ben confirmed.
