Adam Ant – Gotta Be A Sin [BBC acoustic version]
Adam & The Ants – Beat My Guest [B-side version]

There were no online notes made when this was first published, so Carty attempts to recall some background detail:

"This was a requested remix on behalf of Bon & Walt Howieson for their wedding in 2005. At least I think it was! I remember gathering all the different versions of Gotta Be A Sin for this, as the single version was remixed from the album version, and so it was likely I could extract different elements from each of them. For technical reasons I couldn't extract the drums so borrow the outro drums from Christian D'or, which worked wonders.

"For the verses, I used the BBC Simon Mayo session recording, but the mix still sounded thin. So I added some new bass and guitar parts, plus a few effects. Annet (a.k.a. Ant Lady) designed the artwork, as usual, and a rather glossy copy of the remix was presented to the happy couple. It must have worked as they are still married to this day. Well, as of Feb 2012 anyway, hehe!"

Babylon Zoo - Spaceman
Adam & The Ants - Prince Charming [single version]
Adam Ant - Dandy In The Underworld [Redux version]

Adam Ant's cover version of T. Rex's Dandy In The Underworld was recorded in 1995, just after the Wonderful album, and was featured on his Redux compilation, released in 2005. Carty had this recording ahead of the release date so chose to remix it in advance.

He noticed a similarity to Babylon Zoo's Spaceman and that Adam made a reference to Prince Charming in his vocals. An attempt to include the T. Rex original was abandoned as the structure of the two versions were too different to combine.

Marco Pirroni had asked Carty not to release the remix until the Redux album had hit the stores, so a few Durex themed ad banners were used to publicise the remix ahead of time.

3. A&A vs Eminem - Nine Toy Soldiers [Carty Mix]

Nine Toy Soldiers [Carty Mix]
Eminem - Like Toy Soldiers [instrumental]
Martika - Toy Soldiers [single]
Adam & The Ants - Nine Plan Failed [album version]
Adam & The Ants - Cleopatra [album version]
Adam & The Ants - S.E.X. [album version]
Eminem - Like Toy Soldiers [acapella]

This was a much more complex mashup compared to the previous A&A vs Eminem mix by Carty. Mainly due to the amount of tracks contributing to the mix. A personal fave of Carty's partly due to the effort put into it.

Adam Ant and Cannon & Ball - 3 Caballeros

When Adam and Marco returned from touring in Japan, they recorded three of Adam's old songs for use as future B-sides. The third one, Good Sex Rumples The Clothing, had been forgotton about until it appeared on the remastered Friend Of Foe album in 2005.

Carty noticed the tempo of the tracks were very similar and set about creating a mix of all three. Whilst programming the drums, he tweaked it to sound like The Human League's Don't You Want Me, which you can hear in the intro.

The outro of the mix features the tune Adam performed live on TV in 1982, during the Cannon & Ball show, 3 Caballeros, which is also used for the cover (above). Another personal Carty fave.

In 2008 Carty also produced a further remix of Stand & Deliver, aimed at the dancefloors. In fact, four mixes were completed, one of which appears on Carty Mixes Volume 10

Adam Ant - Desperate But Not Serious [album version]
Adam Ant - A Fist In Your Skull [sample from Madness Of Prince Charming]

There's a great story to this. Brian Collins (a.k.a. Sparky) had this wild idea for Carty to create an Ant influenced version of the Crazy Frog's Axel F. It seemed beyond crazy at the time, but Carty got to work by obatining all the different mixes of the Axel F track. He narrowed it down to the Club Mix, and that became the basis of Yabb Ding Ding.

The Adam vocal samples were reproduced at a higher pitch to give that helium effect, and the track was gradually contructed. Crazy Ant seemed a good name for the artist credit at the time, as Adam had reflected this in his behaviour. Although, in case anyone wondered who was behind this track, the Carty logo was neatly hidden on the track's CD cover (above).

This production was also the influence for the Carty remix of Desperate But Not Serious which appears on Carty Mixes Volume 8.

A Crazy Ant video was also made a few years later, which can be viewed HERE.
